Our program provides instruction in both the clinical and administrative aspects of the field. The numerous courses offered can train you for specific duties such as assisting the physician with exams and minor surgery; administering medication; performing electrocardiographs, phlebotomy, and minor laboratory procedures; taking vital signs; interviewing patients for medical histories; medical record documentation; reception duties; insurance billing; and bookkeeping responsibilities.

The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and designed to help eligible students prepare for the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam sponsored by the American Association of Medical Assistants Endowment (AAMAE).*

A student's eligibility may depend on his or her work experience, completion of high school (or its equivalent), not having a criminal record, meeting other licensure or certification requirements, or the program or Institute itself having appropriate accreditation or licensure. Externship sites may themselves require a criminal background check or medical examination.
